Required oil reserves

Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency is responsible for maintaining the compulsory stocks of oil and petroleum products of the Republic of Croatia at the level corresponding to 90 days of consumption by July 31st, 2012.

Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency performs activities and carries out tasks within the scope of activities and competences prescribed by the Act, including all activities necessary for performing tasks stipulated by laws and other decisions, particularly the following:

  • Collection of the fee for the compulsory stocks of crude oil and petroleum products
  • Purchase and sale of crude oil and petroleum products for the purpose of forming and replenishing stocks
  • Organization, supervision and management of compulsory stocks of crude oil and petroleum products
  • Spending of funds for designated purposes in order to form and store compulsory stocks of crude oil and petroleum products
  • Determining the conditions for storing compulsory stocks of oil and petroleum products

In addition, Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency carries out other related activities, particularly the following:

  • Purchase and/or construction of storage tanks and pertaining facilities and managing such facilities
  • Supervision of the quantity and quality of crude oil, petroleum products and services related thereto
  • Taking part in defining the energy policy
  • Cooperation with ministries and relevant inspectorates, in conformance with special laws
  • Cooperation with foreign agencies for compulsory stocks including international associations of agencies for compulsory stocks of crude oil and petroleum products
