In the heart of the Slavonian plain, among freshly ploughed and sown fields, less than six kilometers from the City of Osijek, construction works are in full swing to prepare the site for the drilling rig that will be used to construct the exploratory geothermal well Osijek GT-1 (OSGT-1).
Machinery is active on-site, and trucks have become a part of everyday life for the residents of Tenja, a suburban settlement near Osijek. The location is accessed via an existing field road, which has been upgraded for the needs of the project and will remain a benefit to the local community in the future.
While drilling of the first of four exploratory geothermal wells funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan — Velika Gorica GT-1 — is currently underway, preparations for the site of the second well, OsGT-1, are progressing in parallel, in line with the planned works schedule for 2025.
