Following the completion of construction works, drilling of the Velika Gorica GT-1 geothermal exploration well began on February 28, 2025.
This is the first of four geothermal exploration wells to be drilled as part of the project "Assessment and utilization of geothermal potential for district heating."
The project is carried out under Measure C1.2. R1-I2, "Promoting energy efficiency, district heating, and renewable energy for the decarbonization of the energy sector," within the National Recovery and Resilience Facility (NRRF).
The well has currently reached a depth of 800 meters, and drilling is progressing according to the approved drilling plan.
