The President of the Board of the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency Marijan Krpan and the Director of the Geothermal Energy Sector in Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency Martina Tuschl participated in the conference Days of Renewable Energy Sources in Pula from June 12th to 14th, along with experts from the public and private economic sectors and high representatives of public and international institutions. On this occasion, the participants discussed public policies and perspectives related to the production of green energy in Croatia and the European Union.
During his presentation, the President of the Management Board of the CHA, Marijan Krpan provided the participants with information about the traditional energy sources in Croatia and projects aimed at diversifying the energy mix implemented by the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency. As shown, the experience and data on the exploration and production of hydrocarbons collected by the Agency presents essential and reliable foundation for realization of geothermal projects, also the project of permanent storage of carbon dioxide in geological structures, which is extremely important for the cement industry, and the development of offshore wind farms, for which the regulatory framework is still not available in Croatia.
The Director of the Geothermal Energy Sector in CHA Martina Tuschl participated in a panel discussion on geothermal energy, where it was once again highlighted that the abundant potential of this source of renewable energy is a uniqueness of the Republic of Croatia and that its further exploration for the purpose of heating and electricity production contributes to the energy independence, stability of the domestic energy supply and ensures the transition of the domestic energy sector towards decarbonization.
