On 12 September 2023, at the premises of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (Fund), the Business Cooperation Agreement between the Fund and the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency (Agency) was signed.
The Agreement aims to establish a solid partnership between the Fund and the Agency, focusing on the development of programmes to promote the use of renewable energy sources, with particular attention to geothermal energy. The Agreement was signed by Luka Balen, Director of the Fund, and Marijan Krpan, President of the Management Board of the Agency.
Croatia is directing its energy development towards achieving climate neutrality by 2050 in accordance with European directives, with a special focus on increasing the share of renewable energy sources, high-efficiency cogeneration and energy efficiency in all sectors, especially in the heating sector.
One of the future programmes aims to promote and support the use of geothermal energy as an important renewable energy source. Professional cooperation with the Agency plays a key role in achieving this goal.
We expect that this type of cooperation will help to achieve the decarbonisation goals of the energy sector and at the same time increase energy efficiency in various sectors, with a special focus on the heat sector.
